4th of July and New York

This last week was our trip to New York, it was really fun and went by way to fast although I don't know if Kennadi would have handled another day. She did awesome on the plane rides, she only had a couple of crying fits that were easily soothed by eating, I think her ears bothered her but the swallowing seemed to help. She slept most of the time on all of the flights. On the first one she woke up and just layed there and looked back and forth at Chris and I with wide eyes, I think she was a little confused as to where she was. But she was all smiles after that. We had a very long trip over, we were stuck in the Chicago airport for 5 hours in the middle of the night because the flight kept getting delayed. Then it got canceled and after half of the people went through the line to get hotel room comps they reinstated the flight. Then about and hour later we were on the plane and sat for about 30 minutes and finally left. We didn't arrive in New York till 4am but luckily once Kennadi hit her bedtime she was out and we were able to bring her carseat on the plane so I didn't have to disturb her at all and she slept the whole time there and then for a few more hours at the house before needing to be fed.

This was while we waited in the airport, we found a quiet empty section and let her kick around on the floor, then Chris let her listen to his music which she seemed to enjoy.

Daddy is more tired that Kennadi
Once we were finally there we went to Eric and Sheila's house everyday to hang out on the lake. Everyone was very helpful with Kennadi so I was able to enjoy myself sometimes. She was very thrown off by all the new faces though and had a couple of not so good days. She was cranky and fussy and didn't want to sleep and only wanted to be held facing out and walking around or in the stroller walking around. We all got our exercise!

Finally asleep but only for about 20 minutes

4th of July
Kennadi had a very fussy day this day and we didn't get to enjoy much time outside because it was windy and she didn't like the wind, but once the wind dies down and the bonfires and fireworks started she was fine. She stared at the fires and didn't make a peep and the firework noise didn't scare her at all. Chris took a video of the fireworks and whenever she fussed he would show it to her and she stopped fussing and stared.

Of course I didn't get a picture of her outfit before she spit up all over it
On the beach in this neighborhood everyone builds massive structures and then they all set fire to them when it gets dark, it was amazing.

The next day she was in better spirits so we decided to try to put her in the lake. We only put her in from the waist down and she was fine until the sun went behind the cloud and it got a little chilly. She liked putting her toes in the sand and moving them around.

We had a fun time and we are glad we got to go. It was nice for the extended family to meet Kennadi even though she wasn't on her best behavior:) I guess that is to be expected when you are traveling with an infant though. Today she is very thrown off and has been fussy and crying for most of the day, she went to bed on California time but woke up on East Coast time at 5:30am and is very tired because of it. I am very tired too:) Tomorrow we are going to Mammoth so she can meet more family so hopefully she is used to new faces by now!
