Last Saturday Kennadi got her first little tooth! We were playing and she bit my shoulder and I felt something hard in her mouth. I realized she had a tooth in there! It was tiny and barely visible but we saw it for a second. She still only has that one bottom tooth and it is growing bigger everyday, the other one is right under the surface and hopefully will pop out soon. She ran a fever and had a runny nose for 2 straight weeks but seems to be doing a bit better now, hopefully the worst of the teething is over until the top teeth decide to come in!
Kennadi is 6 months old tomorrow! We cannot believe it, half a year has gone by. She is growing so fast everyday and changing every time we turn around. She rolled from her back to her tummy a couple of times yesterday and is scooting all over the place while she is on her back. She is becoming mobile but is still at the stage where she can't get very far so it's nice. She is so much fun now and wants to play all the time, she loves it when Chris and I both play with her together, she laughs and plays and goofs around, it is a lot of fun.
Chris is still working hard and long hours but I think we are more used to it now. Of course right when we get used to it he is switching to nights so it will be a whole new schedule to get used to. I am starting to volunteer at the Navy Marine Corps Relief Society this week. For now I am doing once a week for a few hours but eventually I might do more. They pay for daycare and mileage so at least I am not paying someone to Watch Kennadi while I volunteer. This will get her into daycare (the same one she has been going to) and me out of the house and adding something to my resume until I am ready to start work. I am excited to see where it goes and if I like it. I hope everyone is enjoying the Fall as much as I am, this is the first day it didn't hit 90 degrees in a while so I am loving having the windows open and getting some cool air for once. Take care!

Kennadi's new playroom! We moved the big dining table into the other room by the kitchen and switched the entire living room around so the back on the couch is separating this space from the living room and then we put all of her toys in here. Now all I have to do is put a gate blocking the kitchen and another one blocking the living room and she will have a safe place to play. I can see her from the kitchen or the living room so I can keep an eye on her. So far she loves it but right now if she can see me she wants me to play with her or hold her, so when I am getting stuff done I try to stay out of sight. She is starting to play by herself and keep herself busy for longer now, usually I talk to her from the kitchen while she babbles from her playroom. Right now all it is is a bunch of baby toys but hopefully in a couple months we will get her some shelves and big girl toys that she can play with and it will be more fun for her. It is really nice for Chris and I to have a living room without baby toys all over it too! We have also had a lot of play dates and Kennadi's friends love the room too, she is starting to interact with other kids more so it is fun.

Poor teething girl
Every time I take the camera out she makes a funny face, this time it was like she was growling at the camera
Bath time is so much fun for her now that she can sit up and play with toys. Although of all the toys I have tried to give her she likes this cup and the washcloth the best.
Kennadi recently figured out how to splash, it started in the pool but now she does it in the bath as well.

Random Update
Sorry I haven't updated in a couple of weeks, we have been very busy!! Not much is new in Kennadi's world, she is still just sitting up, still teething, and really just a happy baby. I love spending my days with her, she is a lot of fun. A couple of weeks ago we went to Mammoth for Chris's backpacking trip, he had a lot of fun backpacking and I had fun hanging out in town. Kennadi met a lot of people that she hadn't met yet so that was nice. Mainly we just hung around and ate all the yummy Mammoth food while we were there. We were able to go on a hike around the Horseshoe Lake with my dad and Shelby and that was a lot of fun, Kennadi enjoyed sitting in the backpack on Chris's back and she was making all kinds of noises for the first while. I don't have those pictures yet but as soon as my dad gets them to me I will post them. Same goes for Chris's backpacking pictures. I of course plugged in my camera the night before we left and told myself I wouldn't forget it, when we got there I realized I did indeed forget it. I have learned time and time again not to trust my horrible memory but I still don't write myself notes. So I borrowed my moms camera for the week but didn't take as many pictures as I normally take. Although every time I turned around my mom had it out and was taking pictures, I think Kennadi will forever remember both of my parents as the people with the flashes in her face. At least if she is famous someday she will be used to the paparazzi:)
Other than Mammoth we have had a lot going on here as well. I started MOPS ( Mothers of PreSchoolers) which has been fun and Kennadi does really well in the daycare there. We have also had a lot of play dates and generally just a lot going on. This week I have started focusing on Kennadi's sleep/eat/play schedule and in just 3 days I am seeing a MAJOR improvement in her. I have made sure to let her put herself to sleep, she cries and I go check on her occasionally to let her know I am there but she puts herself to sleep. The first day took 45 minutes, today we were down to about 10 seconds. So hopefully she gets used to it and I can put her down for naps at around the same time everyday and to bed around the same time as well so she can be on a schedule. The last couple od days she has also taken 1 and 1/2 to 2 hour naps which is so unlike her, usually she catnaps. I figured since she is almost 6 months old and not taking naps just anywhere anymore, we needed to work on it. For the next few weeks I am trying to stay at home with as little interruptions as possible so she can get on a good schedule before we have any disruptions that set us back. Eventually I know there will be disruptions but if she is used to the schedule enough she should be able to bounce right back. Last night I went to Zumba which is a dancing workout class on base, and Chris stayed with Kennadi. She did her normal little fussiness but when I got home she was in bed very close to being asleep. It was great! She is getting used to bedtime and she let Chris put her down which is awesome. I will be doing that every week on Chris's night off.
So other than that not much is new, Chris's half marathon is Saturday so that should be fun. The weather cooled down for a while but is supposed to climb back into the 100s this week so I am not looking forward to that. We will survive though! Anyways, here are some pictures, more to come when I have time:)
The other day I laid her down and she was upset. The first thing she does when she is laying down is grab her legs or feet. Well this day she was so tired she couldn't fight sleep so she literally just stopped crying and dosed off while still holding her legs. I watched it all on the monitor. I couldn't resist taking a picture even if she might wake up. She stayed like this for about 20 minutes until she dropped her feet.
Kennadi's favorite game: Chris drops a pillow onto her tummy, she cracks up. It pretty much works anytime even if she is fussy.
The new face: She started scrunching her nose and breathing in and out, it is so funny. I put a video of it below too.
Mammoth
Nana's house has all kinda of new and fun toys for Kennadi to play with. She was busy all week.
My mom as feeding Kennadi a bottle and Drake came in and decided to try to feed her. It was so cute how concentrated he was on it. Every time he saw her pacifier he would run to her and try to shove it in her mouth as well.
Fun play gym, she loved the piano on it, I think I want to buy her a little piano for her playroom, maybe she will get one from us for Christmas
She loved the chair, she played with toys and ate and was able to watch me in the Kitchen the whole time.

5 Months Old!!
Kennadi is officially 5 months old as of yesterday. The first year is flying by so fast we can't keep up! We have been quite busy in the last few weeks trying to survive this heat, the pool has been a lifesaver. Kennadi is still teething and the last few days have been quite trying, but overall she has been a very happy baby. She is almost sitting up, she leans over a little bit and supports herself with her hands but she is getting stronger everyday. She can also stand while holding onto things like the coffee table, but I obviously have to prop her up to get her to stand that way. She is growing like a weed; I am constantly going through her closet to put more stuff into storage that doesn't fit her anymore, the clothes she is in I remember looking at while I was pregnant and thinking it would be forever before she fit into them. Time does fly when you're having fun!
We are heading up to Mammoth this week for Chris's backpacking trip, it will be soo nice to get out of the heat for a while. I may never leave. Well at least not until this heat wave is gone and we can get our nice moderate weather back.
Anyways, here are some pictures from the last few days of activities:
First Zoo Trip:
My dad and Lynda were here for Braden's graduation from his navy school this last weekend so after the graduation we went to the zoo. It was sooooo hot!! I complained more than Kennadi did, but we were all very hot. She did well for the most part in the stroller but had a few times she wanted to be held. She only slept for about 20 minutes all day in the stroller which was not enough sleep so she was really fussy during dinner that night but we survived. We had a good time despite the heat though and I am glad we went.
I was jealous of the polar bears swimming in the nice cold water, but then I thought that was a little selfish since I get to go home and do whatever I want and they are stuck in the zoo
Braden with the lion
Short little nap, I wish I could sit in the shady stroller and sleep while people wheeled me around!
My dad and Lynda in the lion area, we took refuge in the shade for quite a while, it was hard to get off the bench and walk back into the sun.
On the gondola, Kennadi loved the wind in her face (I don't know what is wrong with some of these pictures and why they look all weird and pixilated, something for my dad to fix not me:)
She was very interested in her surroundings but I don't think she cared one way or the other about the animals.
I was cleaning up Kennadi's room the other night and I took out the johnny jump up and put it in the doorway. Chris played with her for a while and she was cracking up swinging. I was taking a few pictures and this was the look she gave me, it was classic.
I decided to try a sippy cup with some water, so I got a starter one. Kennadi has never seen a sippy cup used before, but she knew exactly what to do. I showed it to her and she got all excited and grabbed it and put it in her mouth. I had to help her hold it up but it was funny that she was so excited about it.
Attacking the caterpillar
Her favorite toy
This is her sitting a couple of weeks ago, she is much better now.
It was so hot the other day (103 degrees) we had to go to the pool. She hadn't slept all day because no one can sleep in a house that is 90 degrees inside, so we went and she sat in her toy for a while and then I looked and she was out. The cool water finally put her to sleep. It was a short nap since I didn't want her to just sit in the chlorine all day.
We have been going to a play group in our neighborhood which is awesome because I have met tons of other moms that live here and we don't have to drive anywhere and use gas. This week we all went to the botanical gardens because they have one free day a month. It was beautiful, I didn't even know it was there. It is a lot of fun for kids who can walk and play because they have all kinds of fun play gardens. Kennadi was content watching them play. We also met another little girl there names Kennedy (spelled the right way). It was the first one I have ever met other than mine so it was cool! The other little girl also told me there is also another Kennedy in her school that is a little older and a little taller. She was so talkative and cute it was funny.
